Aalap Shah

Aalap Shah

Aalap Shah, MD is a board-certified anesthesiologist, specializing in general adult and pediatric anesthesiology. He attended medical school at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, thereafter completing a general anesthesiology residency at the University of Washington and fellowship at Boston Children’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School and obtaining certification in Lean and Six Sigma methodology. Prior to UCI, Dr. Shah provided clinical anesthesia and independent consulting services for local hospitals, ambulatory surgical centers (ASCs) and dental offices, as well as administrative services to community hospitals and medical spas in Los Angeles.

Dr. Shah is passionate about introducing process improvement strategies in the perioperative healthcare arena, in the pursuit of simultaneously improving physician autonomy while achieving the best possible post-operative outcomes for his patients. He has published in peer-reviewed journals on topics including nerve injury, perioperative compliance measures and communication tools, and institution-level quality improvement initiatives. He also contributes op-ed pieces and has appeared on several podcasts and physician media outlets including KevinMD. He is a recipient of the ACGME David Leach Award for his leadership with a multidisciplinary team in improving communication between teams after surgery.

 At UCI, Dr. Shah teaches resident trainees in the operating room with a focus on neonatal and pediatric anesthesia and lectures on anesthesia practice management. He is the Informatics Director and involved in several projects related to conservation and sustainability, quality improvement reporting, and clinical decision-support tools. Dr. Shah’s current research interests focus on “minimally invasive” therapies, including the study of music as a therapeutic modality as well as nanoanesthesia.

Govind Rajan

Govind Rajan

Govind Rajan MBBS, FAACD, FASA completed his medical education and post-graduation in anesthesiology in New Delhi, India and is now a board-certified anesthesiologist and holds diplomate status both in Perioperative TEE and Critical Care Anesthesiology. He is an astute clinician who began his anesthesia carrier with Ether, chloroform as anesthetic, Boyles Anesthesia Machines, no ventilators and no monitors almost 40 years ago, who seems to love all aspect of modern clinical anesthesiology practice. He publishes, invents, innovates and has been featured on CSA blogNBC LA. He cofounded the Bridge Ventilator Consortium and developed with Virgin Orbit the Bridge Ventilator which is currently on display at the California Science Center.  His detailed profile can be accessed at his professional Linkedin. Ramin Rahimian

Ramin Rahimian

Dr. Ramin Rahimian is an Associate Clinical Professor at UC Irvine Health and is board certified in Anesthesiology. In addition to his role as an anesthesiologist, he serves as the Orthopedic Liaison within the department. Dr. Rahimian works in a variety of settings, including regional anesthesia, obstetric anesthesia, ambulatory, and inpatient centers. He is known for his hands-on approach to teaching residents and fellows and has a particular interest in quality improvement and leadership within anesthesiology and healthcare. In his free time, Dr. Rahimian enjoys exploring personal finance for health professionals, health, fitness, and longevity. He is excited to create opportunities for robust discussions about anesthesiology and the healthcare professionals who dedicate their lives to this profession.

Vivek Gulati

Vivek Gulati

Dr. Vivek Gulati is a current PGY-4 anesthesia resident at the University of California-Irvine and one of the hosts of the AnesthesiaStat podcast. He grew up in Bloomington, IL before completing his undergraduate and medical school at Saint Louis University. His passions include teaching, finance, and cheering for his Chicago Bears and Chicago Bulls. After completing his residency training, he plans to remain at UC-Irvine as a member of the anesthesia faculty.

Pejman Majd

Pejman Majd

Pejman Majd, MD is a Southern California local and UCI lifer. After earning his medical degree from the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine, he completed his residency in Anesthesiology at the prestigious UC Irvine Medical Center. Dr. Majd has a wealth of expertise in the management of anesthesia for a wide range of surgical procedures, including complex and high-risk surgeries. He has a particular interest in educating and mentoring future physicians and residents. He has been an advisor to pre-medical and medical students for more than 8 years. In this role, he has reviewed hundreds of personal statements and applications, learned the unique intricacies of the admissions process, and used his expertise to mentor premedical students to successful matriculation at US allopathic medical schools. Dr. Majd is highly respected by his colleagues and patients alike for his compassionate, patient-centered approach to care. He is dedicated to providing the highest level of anesthesia care to his patients and is committed to ensuring their safety and comfort throughout their surgical experience. He is currently practicing anesthesiology in Ventura, CA.
